Two Pastors

Two Pastors wives were visiting and sewing
their husbands pants. One wife said: My
husband is just beside himself, he does not
know what to do anymore and he is so tired
and depressed he said he is ready to just
give up and resign.

The other wife said: I am sorry to hear that
because my husband has never been happier.
Our membership is growing and we are out
of our financial burden, we have such a large
and loving congregation. Life could not
be any better than it is right now.

One woman was mending the seat of her
husbands pants, the other was mending
the knees.

The crosses we bear are not supposed
to be heavy enough to crush us,...but
they are heavy enough to bend our knees.

Lord, prop us up!

Every time I am asked to pray, I think of the old
deacon who always prayed, Lord, prop us up on
our leanin' side.'

After hearing him pray that prayer many times,
someone asked him why he prayed that prayer so
fervently.

He answered,

'Well sir, you see, it's like this....I got an old barn
out back. It's been there a long time, it's withstood a
lot of weather, it's gone through a lot of storms,
and it's stood for many years.

It's still standing, but one day I noticed it was leaning
to one side a bit. So I went and got some pine poles and
propped it up on its leaning side so it wouldn't fall.

Then I got to thinking 'bout that and how much I was
like that old barn.

I been around a long time, I've withstood a lot of life's
storms, I've withstood a lot of bad weather in life,
I've withstood a lot of hard times, and I'm still standing
too.

But I find myself leaning to one side from time to time,
so I like to ask the Lord to prop us up on our leaning side,
'cause I figure a lot of us get to leaning, at times.'

Sometime we get to leaning toward anger, leaning
toward bitterness, leaning toward hatred, leaning
toward cussing, leaning toward a lot of things that
we shouldn't, so we need to pray,

'Lord, prop us up on our leaning

side,' so we will stand straight

and tall again, to glorify the

Lord.

Prayer: More Is Better

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."

Genuine, heartfelt prayer changes things and it changes us.
When we lift our hearts to our Father in heaven, we open
ourselves to a never-ending source of divine wisdom and
infinite love.

Do you have questions that you simply can't answer?
Ask for the guidance of your Father in heaven.
Whatever your need, no matter how great or small,
pray about it.

Instead of waiting for mealtimes or bedtimes, follow
the instruction of your Savior: Pray always and never
lose heart.

And remember: God is not just near; He is here,
and He's ready to talk with you. Now!
