Mentally Unstable

Mr. Bill Maher has described Christians as "mentally unstable." So here is one Christian's rebuttal:

No, Mr. Maher, when I worship the Lord

I am my most cognizant

I am my most stable.

I am my most happy.

I am also:

my most loving.

my most joyful.

my most peaceful.

my most patient.

my most kind.

my most good.

my most faithful.

my most gentle.

my most controlled.

When I worhip my Lord and obey His will for my life.

Galatians 6: 22

Those Narrow Minded Christians

Galatians 1:6-9

"I am shocked that you are turning away so soon from God, who in His love and mercy called you to share the eternal life He gives through Christ. You are already following a different way that pretends to be the Good News but is not the Good News at all. You are being fooled by those who twist and change the truth concerning Christ. Let God's curse fall on anyone, including myself, who preaches any other message than the one we told you about. Even if an angel comes from heaven and preaches any other message, let him be forever cursed.

I will say it again: If anyone preaches any other gospel than the one you welcomed, let God's curse fall upon that person."

God is narrow minded:

1 God. 1 Way. NO EXCEPTIONS.

You cannot worship allah, buddha, the sun or moon AND be saved.

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. "

He who has the Son, has life; and he who does not have the Son, does not have life.

Jesus Christ is the ONLY door to salvation~~He is the ONLY requirement!

Revelation 3: 20 "Look! I stand at the door and knock. If you hear me calling and open the door, I will come in, and we will share a meal as friends."


Jesus Christ is narrow minded:

Jesus, over and over again, came down hard on the Pharisees who publicly flaunted their piousness; yet, too often they were hypocrites. He threw the businesses out of His Father's temple. They had no business being there ~~it is a place of worship not commerce. Matthew 23

In Matthew 19:16-30 Jesus gives us the story of the rich young man. When this young man asked Jesus, what he must do to have eternal life, Jesus told him that he must obey the commandments. The young man replied that he had done so. Then Jesus tells him to sell his riches, give to the poor, and come follow ME. This, the young man COULD NOT do.

Jesus never changed His mind. He didn't lighten the requirement. Even though Jesus loved this young man and knew He was soon to die for his sins, He still let that young man walk away~~for eternity! This young man had the way to salvation ~~no compromises~~one way and he walked away.

This doesn't mean Jesus wants His children to be poor~~that is missing the entire point! What He wants and DEMANDS is total OBEDIENCE. He doesn't want "things" to become more important than God~~than His sacrifice for your sins.

Walking away from salvation for "things"~~that will soon enough over time be destroyed~~is a poor choice! With salvation, you have eternity with God and Jesus and fellow believers~~your family who made that choice. Believe me, the grandeur of Heaven outshines anything mankind has ever created!

Matthew 6:19-21 "Don't store up treasures here on earth, where they can be eaten by moths and get rusty, and where thieves break in and steal. Store your treasures in heaven, where they will never become moth-eaten or rusty and where they will be safe from thieves. Wherever your treasure is, there your heart and thoughts will also be."

Besides, does keeping up with the Joneses really bring you happiness? Not likely, just more debt in most cases!

The next time some one accuses you of being "narrow minded" ~~tell them thank you! Then explain to them how Jesus is "narrow minded" as well and how you are constantly striving to become more Christ-like in your daily walk and wahoo, you succeeded~~ for today anyway!

CHALLENGE for Non-Believers

It has been my experience that "non-believers" (like Bill Maher) are very INTOLERANT people.

They are BIGOTED against "Christians".

I'm always curious to find out WHY their attitudes are this way. Sometimes, it is because they have had a very BAD experience with 'so-called' Believers. {'So-called' because a true Christian (believer) is NOT going to condemn you~~they will witness to you~~YOU (like them) ARE A SINNER. But they will ALWAYS do so from a loving viewpoint, not a condemnatory one.} Sometimes, it is because they are judgmental people. Sometimes, it is because they are too lazy to study and learn. Sometimes, it is just plain ignorance speaking.

To understand God, you must STUDY His word. Picking a scripture here or there, often times taking it out of context, not understanding the history behind it ~~all leads to misunderstandings which lead to these attitudes of bigotry and intolerance.

The non-believer's mistake, however, is letting that BAD experience color their perceptions of ALL Christians.

For example: If you have had a bad experience with a black person, you would NOT condemn the entire race (I hope) based on that one experience!

Likewise with any nationality~~Indians, Arabs, Americans, Africans, Orientals, Europeans......

or

~~with any religion~~Mormonism,Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism; any new age beliefs.......
(Please note: that this IS an evangelical Christian blog~~it is here that I will attempt to show why these other religions are not the way to salvation. Also, do not come back and accuse me of being intolerant or bigoted~~the difference here is that I am not going to force you to believe, or attack you, kill you, hate you, verbally abuse you, or slander you IF you choose not to believe.)

Therefore, why is it so easy for them to condemn ALL Christians?

I challenge you to Listen with an open heart and mind to the message.


Because until you address your own ignorance, intolerances and bigotries, you cannot judge with any authority the Christian perspective.
